Rural Utah.
Our rural communities often have less access to services but need more. Through Virtual VITA, Earn it. Keep it. $ave it. is able to reach more rural communities ensuring that taxes are prepared and people save an average of $233 in tax preparation fees!

Low- and moderate-income Households.
With the VITA income being as high as $51,000, Earn it. Keep it. $ave it. is able to serve a wide range of households. However, the average income is only $18,000!

Refugees.
Utah is unique in that each year the state welcomes Refugees from all over the world. Our coalition hosts specialized events to meet the tax needs of this population. Partnering with Catholic Community Services, the IRC, Horizonte, and the ESL center the coalition has served hundreds from this community over the years.

English as a Second Language.
Each year, approximately 19% of the households served speak a language other than English in their home. A significant barrier to filing taxes is communication. Our coalition actively recruits bi-lingual volunteers and appropriate outreach materials when necessary.

People with Disabilities.
Utah’s Persons with Disabilities rate is approximately 9%. Each year, roughly 11% of the households served at tax time identified having a person with a disability living in the home. While much of this population is employed, it is important to work with them at tax time to ensure they get the money they’ve earned without losing benefits.
